Crayola Gift Guide

I recently edited the audio, did sound design for and produced the music for Crayola’s new gift guide site, which just went live for the holidays.

I was happy to be able to work on such a cool project, and to get to make a fun piece of music to go with it.

Good to Me - Here’s another song idea I recorded in Live. I think I’m going to make a bunch of these and pick the best ones later and re-record them and flesh them out a bit - maybe add real instruments etc.

Other Things - So now I’m using Live instead of Logic and I’ve finally got my head around using it to write songs.

Here is a quick track I made to test my new setup out. I’m certainly no great singer, but it was still fun writing and recording this quick sketch of a song with just a few hours and a laptop.

I really like how easy it is to play with song structures in Live. It’s like the sequencer really becomes an instrument unto itself.

A while back, I was asked to write an audio track and edit some stock footage that this company gave me. It was really tasteless stuff, but I gave it a shot.

I ended up not getting the job, but I still had a good time making the song and editing their random footage together.

Here’s a really old track. It’s me playing the first three etudes by Leo Brouwer in 2001.

Here’s another video shot and edited by Travis about 5 years ago. He wanted me to write a strange waltz, and this is what I came up with.

5ON! - I did some fake news music for the intro and outtro of Devin’s show for Comedy Central’s website. There were 6 episodes - they were really funny.

P-Cok - This is a pretty blatant rip off of Jay-Z, but it was still fun to work on. Again, it’s Dan on vocals, but I’m especially proud of the way I incorporated an actual peacock mating call (lifted from a Youtube video!) and threw in a sample of some Indian music as well.

Mustard Water - Dan asked me to do some 80s-style montage music for this cartoon and this is what happened. He did the vocals.

23ku ad - I wrote and recorded this song for an ad for 23ku (a Japanese fashion brand) at the request of Greg. I played everything except for drums and vocals.

Dallas - my music, video edited by Travis about 5 years ago with some of his road trip footage.
